Applegate River Fly Fishing

March 16,2012

As we head into mid March the Applegate River was definitely coming into play. The flows were just about perfect and the fishing was very good. Then look what happens with a couple days of rain, not just rain but heavy amounts of the clear stuff. The photo was taken today on the Applegate River just above the Highway 199 bridge and above Slate Creek confluence. The reports on flows say around 3500 cfs. We were fishing and hooking fish in this area with the flows three day ago around 400cfs. With the weather starting to clear and only showers forecasted for the week the water should start dropping, plenty of time to come up and fish this river before it closes on the last day of March.
